The Natural History Museum needs no introduction; it is a world class establishment.
We worked on two sites, the national collection storage facility and the museum at Tring. The £700K D&B project was carried out in 2010-11. We worked as Principal Contractor.
The London storage facility holds the items from the nation collection that are not on display at South Kensington. Many items are scientifically unique. The “Red Label” specimens define the species type. Many items go back to the voyages of Captain Cook. The location of the facility is not public knowledge. We were responsible for the replacement of the heating and chilled water plant
The new indoor chilled water plant.
The facility at Tring has a museum that is open to the public and a scientific facility that holds the national bird collection. Many of the specimens at Tring were collected by Charles Darwin.
New boilers had to be craned into a very tight basement boiler room.
